Counselor's Corner
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you as the school counselor at John Bassett Moore Intermediate School (JBM).  I am entering my nineteenth year in the Delaware Educational System and I hold a Masters Degree in School Counseling from Wilmington College.  I look forward to working with you and your child this year, and I will make every effort to try to see that your child receives as much personal assistance as possible.

I would also like to give you a brief summary of the School Counseling Program that provides services for your child.  The School Counseling Program is designed to assist with interests and issues related to the stages of student growth in the areas of academic, career, and personal/social development.  The following services will be offered this year at JBM:

Group sessions for students focusing on: life skills, divorce issues, grief issues, study skills, friendship, social skills, and self-esteem.  Individual sessions to help students adjust to school.  Classroom lessons with emphasis on personal/social skills, academic development (study skills), Character Education and career awareness and development.  Referral assistance to other programs and services in the community.

If you have any questions regarding our counseling program, please contact me either at 659-6297 or Linda.Weeks@smyrna.k12.de.us.  Working together helps to ensure your child’s success in school, the community, and life in general.  I wish you and your child much success in this school year.

Sincerely,

Linda Weeks
